Home water purification systems

Water is the most abundant resource we have on earth and yet it is the something we cannot live without. We drink water and bathe in it. Our health depends on it and we use it for almost everything we do daily. WE NEED WATER TO LIVE.

However many countries and underdeveloped parts of the world find it hard to acquire clean water despite its abundance. One cannot simply drink sea water or water from a nearby river, this is where Home water purification systems come in, as well as other purification methods like water filters, water conditioning, water softeners, and reverse osmosis water purification system.

That’s why it doesn’t come as a surprise to see an increasing demand for home water purification systems, house water filters, and water softener systems. Fitted in almost every home in the US and around the world it meets our increasing demand for pure and clean water which is increasingly becoming a necessity in today’s modern lifestyle. Prozone, Hydrotech,Culligan, Kinetico, Pur, and Kenmore are manufacturers that provide home owners with these systems.

Not only can home owners benefit from water purification systems, the environment also needs water that is clean and uncontaminated. Studies now show that chlorinated water and other chemicals present in a lot of drinking water prove to be harmful and are found to be linked to cancer. Chlorine and other bleaching detergents are commonly used to kill germs and bacteria without the need for complicated water purification systems. Therefore, residential water filters and residential water purification techniques are necessary to avoid these things.

Water softeners are the most common water filters in the market. There are two kinds of filters, salt and carbon filters. The salt filters advertised by many companies seem to be the most efficient and inexpensive product amongst the two, but the ads fail to mention how many frequent refills are required. It may also prove harmful to pets and animals, as well as appliances and plumbing systems since it replaces the unwanted chemicals in the water it filters with sodium which is a corrosive substance. Carbon on the other hand does not replace the water with anything, it only absorbs unwanted chemicals and though it is expensive at first installment, it is easy to maintain.

Another home water purification system is UV water purifiers. Ultraviolet lamps produce UV-C which radiation much stronger than sunlight. These kill any unwanted biological contaminants such as bacterias and viruses found in water. It does not however filter chemicals and other heavy materials so it does not provide full filter action. That is why most UV water purifiers are systems containing the UV lamp in combination with other filtration systems.

Of all home water purification systems, reverse osmosis water purification system is the most effective system available today. Also known as hyper-filtration, it removes, eliminates and reduces a wide array of contaminants. It is the most common treatment technology used by premium water bottle companies. In reverse osmosis water purification system, a semi permeable membrane is used to filter contaminants from the water. It is a thin film with small pores that allow water molecules to pass through leaving contaminant molecules which are too big to fit through the pores behind. Quality reverse osmosis uses a system that allows the membrane to clean itself continually while filtering water. This is done by a 2nd route through which the water can flow rather than being filtered, this carries the contaminants away from the pores down the drain where they can be further treated. A reverse osmosis water purification system requires a driving force that pushes the liquid through the membrane, this is usually the pressure provided by a standard residential water system; -40 psi+.

Can you afford to buy home water purification systems that give you soft, clean, uncontaminated water? Maybe the more important question is can you afford not to. In today’s world when clean water is becoming more important to our well being, water treatment systems go a long way to providing benefits that would keep us from spending too much on doctor visits. These systems are more inexpensive than you might imagine and they will save you hundreds in maintenance by extending the lives of your pipes while at the same time giving you pure and healthy drinking water.
