A sense of the future…
Very interesting video. Its inevitable that mankind would somehow evolve in such a technological manner as to merely just want information and it reveals itself, as to merely just think about doing something and its done. For example, if you want to move a bottle of water from point A to point B in a table, your thoughts send signals to your arms (the machine) and your arms do the moving. But what if you just have to think about it, and it moves by itself? or what about walking into a dark room and wanting the lights on, it automatically switches on (we already have the clap-on lights, how many more steps to mental responsitivity). What if we had the technology to recognize our wants, to know what is the best for us as individuals, to be-able to tap into our deepest thoughts and desires, things that we aren’t even conscious of, then bring that out into the physical world.
I mean seriously somehow, someway this thing, this form of change will happen, be it through technological progress or mental (humans use less than 30% of their brain power). In other words, a bus operator sees a potential passenger (due to the fact that a person is standing by the sidewalk in front of a bus stop sign). The operator processes all this information, and comes to a conclusion that the guy wants to get in. He stops the bus and the person walks in, all done without even saying a single word. So taking the whole bus as one big machine (including the driver), the passenger stopped the bus just by standing at the sidewalk by the bus stop sign. Its happening all around us, on top of that the bus operator just had to press a button to open the door. Imagine this button was in the mind, and for every single button that we use right now, in your cellphone, the car, the remote control, the keyboards in your laptop….what endless possibilities would we have.
You can also approach this whole thing from another perspective. Lets take mind reading for example. Every day in our conversations, we most surely at least once read the mind of the person we talk to. Sometimes we even know what they’re about to say, and say it to ourselves, anticipation or human instinct? Who knows. Isn’t that something? In a bar or a club or just anywhere public, you see this really good looking girl, checking you out. Gestures and facial expressions, all without using a single word, she “tells” you that she likes you. The economy is moving from responsibility to convenience. Like what Patty Maes said, most of us would rather pick the tissue with most bleach than the one that was more economically responsible. What if speaking is not the most convenient thing anymore. My point is that prehistoric animals developed legs to walk on land, blind fishes produced off-springs that had eyes when they started living in the light. Wouldn’t it be so convenient as to just have a conversation without saying a single word? Wouldn’t it be so convenient as to just let the world around you move a certain way, act a certain action, as you think, watch and sit back…
The Philosophy of “The Matrix”
THE MATRIX……is not only one of the Best films ever!! But is also one of the most unique and philosophy-based films I’ve seen. Hell yea everyone watched it! If you didn’t then something is wrong with you, in my opinion (you don’t know how much your missing).
Let’s look at the hypothesis of the movie– The world we’re ‘IN’ now is NOT REAL, its just a virtual world and we’re all plugged to some kind of network system sending electrical signals to our brain causing us to interpret these signals in a way that we feel and sense everything around us as if they were REAL.
So when you first watched this movie…besides the action, the drama, the thriller and so on. What was that single outstanding thing that struck you the most? The question that we would ask ourselves , if not never, from time to time, after having watched this movie……………
………..IS THIS WORLD (at present) REAL? It is the DOUBT that was stirred in each of us. This doubt was due to the fact that we can relate to the movie, somehow, there’s this possible involvement that we feel towards the idea, since NEO was just any ordinary person, just like you and me living a normal life.
This would then lead us to start DOUBTING the authenticity of this reality that we live in…am I right?? and don’t say you never ever even thought of doubting the “realness” of this world after watching the movie..DONT DENY IT! (if anyone did not doubt then you simply did not understand the concept of the movie).
So having said all this…Wow! Can all this then be possible?
Is there any way we can know for SURE that the theory in matrix isn’t real? And that we aren’t all in this VIRTUAL world created by AI machines, used as “Human batteries”???? Well yea you can argue that there’s no “NEO” or “MORHPEUS” to have ever lived and that nothing out of the ordinary has ever happened throughout history and that this idea of a MATRIX is just a movie, a “science fiction speculation”. But the idea itself, not needing obvious evidence such as a flying man, or bullet dodging person, already forces many philosophers to reconsider.
Some people actually suggest that this is a hypothesis that we ought to take with some seriousness. In fact many philosophers of today agree that it is very difficult, almost impossible to differentiate the simulated world from the real world…
Think about it for a second…the world already is advanced in Virtual Technology. Simulated games are everywhere!! SIM CITY…SIMS, FLIGHT simulator…in fact almost every game in any console provide a sense of simulation where the fuel that drives people to play games is the sense of being someone else that’s not REAL, that’s simulated.
According to David Chalmers(one of the top philosophers), the rate in which technology is developing in the world, in about 100 or 200 years time, simulation would be everywhere and every individual will have a simulated universe in his computer, probably a game/program invented by then, and each of this simulated universes is going to simulate everything in the real world, people and their actions, even THINKING!! and the MIND will be simulated. Then you start to think…if there are billions of simulated universes being run on computers (similar to the MATRIX)..then there should be billions of billions of billions of simulated people in the Universe (space and time). Maybe a few 5-6 billion un-simulated people exists (current human population is 6 billion) of…but what are the odds that your one of the “LUCKY ONES” to be in a simulated world right now? A probability that is extremely high!
Ask yourself, What are the odds? because there are billions of matrix (simulated) worlds…but just one real world…

Drowning Baby….
…NOT!!!!
How awesome is that?
At first you’d think that that’s one cool baby, but turns out, the parents taught the baby this survival technique. Lessons are provided by experts in the field.
The next 5000 days of the web
The video is a really interesting talk by Kevin Kelly, who is the editor of ‘Wired’ Magazine, which contains reports on how technology affects the lives of people from different cultures, as well as their economical and political systems. He is also author of ‘Whole Earth catalog’.
It is amazing how in just have a century (around 5000 days) mankind’s technology have evolved into what we now know as the Internet. Almost every sort of information based research or social networking depend on the web. Imagine your life without it….
Kimbo’s Fight Disappoints
Kimbo Slice was a disappoinment, and on top of that, the fashion in which he was beaten made it worse. Roy Nelson won not by submission, or by knockout, but by his huge-ass belly.
In a “Crucifix” position, where the fighter is pinned by the legs and one arm of the opponent, Slice was under alot of weight. With a free arm, Nelson pounded away on Slice’s head, while Kimbo as if unconcious, layed on the mat taking them.
Kimbo Slice is a fighter (if you don’t believe me watch all his videos in youtube), but what separates a fighter from an Ultimate Fighter is the technicality of the sport. MMA (mixed martial arts) involves alot of skills incorporated from different fighting practices, and Slice lost because he simply couldn’t put up a guard againt’s Nelson’s mounts. If he had learned a bit of juijitsu (submission fighting style) and wrestling, he could have beaten Roy Nelson within the first round of the match.
Nelson, tired and happy asks Dana White (President of UFC) to get him a “Whopper”, the burger only “fit for a king”, while Slice in disappoinment announced his return to be other than a ridiculous loss.
